Puppy Purchase Agreement

1. Registration & Payment

This puppy is sold with Full AKC Registration, as defined by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

  • All monies paid are non-refundable.

  • The contract is void if full payment is not received at time of pickup.

  • AKC registration papers will be provided once payment is received in full.

2. Veterinary Exam & Replacement Warranty

Buyer agrees to have the puppy examined by a licensed Veterinarian within 48 business hours of taking possession. This exam activates the Replacement Warranty.

If a life-threatening congenital defect is diagnosed during this period:

  • Buyer must notify Breeder immediately.

  • Buyer must provide a notarized Veterinarian report, sent via registered mail, confirming with medical certainty that the defect is congenital and life-threatening, along with all medical records.

  • Breeder’s Veterinarian must confirm the diagnosis.

If confirmed, Breeder will replace the puppy with one of the same gender from the next available litter. No cash refund will be given. The Replacement Warranty is void if the puppy is sold, transferred, or given away.

3. Breed Purpose & Traits

Buyer understands that this puppy is raised as a Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) and is purchasing the puppy for this capacity.
By completing this purchase, Buyer acknowledges understanding of the Great Pyrenees breed’s instinctual traits and temperament.

4. Lifetime Commitment

Buyer agrees to a lifelong commitment to the dog.

  • Under no circumstances is the dog to be surrendered to a shelter or rescue.

  • If Buyer can no longer properly care for the dog and is unable to find a suitable home, Buyer agrees to contact Breeder for rehoming assistance.

  • Buyer agrees to make reasonable efforts to rehome the dog prior to contacting Breeder.

  • Breeder reserves the right to screen and approve any new home.

  • No money will be reimbursed in this case. Breeder assumes no costs associated with rehoming.

5. Health & Veterinary Care

Buyer agrees to:

  • Continue routine vaccinations

  • Treat for intestinal worms

  • Begin heartworm prevention per Veterinarian’s guidance

Breeder provides:

  • First veterinary visit

  • Initial vaccinations

  • Microchip (provided at the farm prior to pickup)

Breeder assumes no responsibility for veterinary expenses beyond this.

6. Nutrition

Buyer agrees to:

  • Feed a high-quality large-breed puppy food until growth is complete

  • Provide fresh water at all times

7. Shelter & Care

Buyer agrees to:

  • Provide suitable shelter and fencing typical for this breed

  • Protect the dog from extreme weather conditions

  • Not tether or chain the dog unless under direct adult supervision

Breeder reserves the right to reclaim any dog found to be abused, neglected, mistreated, or abandoned.
This does not apply to cases where the Buyer responsibly engages Breeder for rehoming assistance as outlined in Section 4.

8. Breeding & Show Guarantee

Breeder makes no guarantee regarding:

  • Fertility of the dog

  • Quality or health of the dog's offspring

  • Breeding success

  • Show success

  • Adult color and/or size of the dog

Responsible Breeding Clause

Buyer agrees that if the dog is bred, it will be done responsibly with appropriate health testing and ethical breeding practices. Buyer agrees not to lease the dog or its offspring to brokers, puppy mills, or pet shops.

9. Ownership & Sale Restrictions

Buyer affirms that they:

  • Are at least 18 years of age

  • Are purchasing this puppy for themselves and not as an agent or for resale

  • Are not affiliated with a pet shop or animal broker

  • Will not sell or lease this dog or its offspring to pet shops or brokers

  • Will not lease this dog or its offspring for use in commercial breeding operations or puppy mills

10. Communicable Diseases

Breeder is not responsible for communicable diseases contracted after the puppy leaves Breeder’s possession.
Warranty does not cover:

  • Viral or bacterial illnesses (Kennel Cough, Parvo, Giardia, Coccidiosis, etc.)

  • Illnesses caused by ingestion of foreign objects, food, or chemicals

  • Physical injuries

  • Improper bites or hernias

  • Adverse reactions to flea/tick treatments, heartworm preventatives, or vaccinations

Buyer assumes full responsibility for all veterinary care once the puppy leaves the farm.

11. Warranty Conditions & Termination

The Replacement Warranty will be void if:

  • The dog is abused or neglected

  • The dog does not receive routine veterinary care

  • Vaccinations and fecal examinations are not kept up to date

  • The initial veterinary exam within 48 business hours of possession does not occur

  • The dog is sold, transferred, or given away

12. Deposits

Deposits may be made via PayPal or credit card.
Checks are not accepted. All deposits are non-refundable.

13. Final Payment & Transport

Remaining balance is due:

  • In person at pickup (PayPal, credit card, or cash), or

  • By the time the puppy is 6 weeks old if it is to be transported.

If transport is not arranged and the puppy has not been picked up by 12 weeks of age, the Breeder reserves the right to rehome the puppy and any monies paid will be forfeited.

14. Pickup & Boarding Fees

Buyer agrees to make all transportation arrangements and is responsible for all related charges.

If the puppy is not picked up within two (2) weeks of the agreed-upon pickup date, a boarding fee of $25/day will apply until pickup or until the puppy is rehomed.

15. Legal Terms

By submitting a deposit or completing a purchase, Buyer agrees to all terms stated in this Agreement.

  • No other warranties, assurances, or agreements — verbal or written — apply beyond this contract.

  • Breeder reserves the right to refuse sale if necessary.

If legal action is required, venue shall be in Sequatchie County, Tennessee. The prevailing party in any legal action shall be entitled to recover reasonable attorney’s fees and costs.

16. Photography Release (Optional)

Buyer grants permission for non-identifying photos of their puppy (alone or in a group) to be used by Little Tail Farms in marketing materials or social media.

17. Buyer Responsibility Upon Pickup

Buyer assumes full responsibility for the puppy’s welfare, care, and veterinary expenses upon leaving the farm.
